Trip Overview

Mera Peak, Sherpani Col with Makalu Base Camp trek can be start from Lukla or Tumlingtar where the trekking trails enter the highest valley in the world to begin your journey to the Makalu Base Camp, the fifth highest mountain in the world (8,463m). Trek is without a doubt longest trek in Makalu region though it touches both Makalu and Everest region. It is undoubtedly one of the most strenuous treks which require extensive preparation and physical fitness on the part of trekkers. Glacier walking, use of ice axes, and other gears will be necessary to complete this trek. The main goal of the Mera Peak, Sherpani Col Trek is to reach Makalu Base Camp. Ahead the trek presents almost overwhelming challenges of crossing the Sherpani Col (6,150m), Sherpani West Col (6,143m) and Mingbo-La (5,817m), the three highest passes in the Himalayas. From Baruntse Base Camp trek we continue along the difficult passes like Mingbo-La so that we need at least a line of 300m of fixed rope to descend.

The Makalu Sherpani Col trek is one of the longest and most difficult treks that require extensive preparation and physical fitness. The trek crosses diverse landscapes and interesting cultures, passing through the magnificent forest, flora and fauna. The indigenous group of Rai, Limbu, Sherpa and Lhomi that you will meet in the southern buffer zones, but no one lives in the center of the park. This is a journey for those who have the stamina and fitness level to tackle one of the most rewarding and challenging treks in Nepal. The final days of this amazing trip are spent in Tumlingtar or Lukla - and that’s just the icing on the cake (Or the snow on the glacier). Remember! Mera Peak North height (6,470m - 21,1907ft) officially fixed by the Nepal Mountaineering Association.
