Trip Overview

Bokta Peak is popular and one of the best climbs in the Kanchenjunga Region and is an attractive and least explored trekking peak, located in the Taplejung district of Eastern Nepal at an altitude of 6,143 meters. Bokta Peak rises near Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586m) - the third highest mountain and offers stunning views of great peaks, including Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586 meters), Kumbhakarna (7,710 meters), Pico Dhormo (6,850 meters) and Nupchu (6,690 meters). Since the climbing permission for Bokta Peak was approved in 2002, it has grown in popularity with adventure-seeking climbers. Despite fewer visitors, the locals provide warm and friendly hospitality. The way of life of the locals is influenced by Tibetan culture and tradition. Bokta is surrounded by Yalung Glacier in the south and east, by Yamatari Dudh Pokhari Glacier in the north. Bokta peak was first climbed on April 10, 1991 by a Slovenian mountaineering group consisting of Marko Prezelj, Andrej Stremfelj and Uros Rupar. The ascent took place from Ramze (Ramche - 4,580m) to the south.

Climbing the Bokta Peak Summit requires a high degree of commitment and previous peak climbing experience. The climb to the summit is challenging with several technical sections that must be overcome to reach the summit. You use also know how to properly use climbing gears. It is an excellent opportunity to get an exciting climbing experience. Furthermore, one can explore unspoiled lush valleys, breathtaking landscapes, and experience the company of friendly locals.
