Trip Overview

Mt. Chekigo Peak is known as 'Chekijo' stands at height of 6121 metres is a newly opened mountaineering adventure trail that lies close to Mount Gauri Shankar Himal (7,134m) between Rolwaling Valley and Khumbu Region. The Gauri Shankar peak (7,134m) region’s impressive summit here is a different route that can be reached at the top of the chekigo range. While setting in the Rolwaling Valley wilderness which combines with moving across the Tashi Lapcha Pass at (5,755m) which is considered one of the most difficult passes on the Chekigo peak climbing path. This trail offers us, among others, excellent views of Mt. Tengi Ragi Tau (6,943m), Mt. Dragkar Go (6,793m) and Mt. Bisphero Go Shar (6,729m). The first summit of the Chekigo peak was ascended by Bruce Normand from United Kingdom and Oliver Rotz from Switzerland through the west face on May 15, 2005.

Trekking to the Chekigo peak is easily accessible by road from Kathmandu, through beautiful mountain terrain, various beautiful villages, some of Nepal’s most religious sites like Bigu Gompa and Kalinchok Temple etc. The beautiful views of the Himalayas such as Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Lamjung Himal, Shishapangma, Gauri Shanker, Langtang, Dorjee Lakpa, etc. can be observed during your trek. Also, a Himalayan ride from the green to the glacier is a spectacular climb in Nepal, walking along the Rhododendron forest, paddy fields, higher meadows and different species of birds etc. will make your journey one of the unforgettable journey of your life. The base camp will be set up at (5,400m) and a minimum of two camps will be prepared before final push for the summit. The mountain is a bundle of snow and rock so extra attention will be needed in walking through rock and snow.

Outline Peak Climbing Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,350m), meet our staff then transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu, preparation and briefing about trip at evening.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Chhetchhet (1,377m) by Jeep or, local Bus. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 04: Trek start from Chhetchhet – Simigaon (Simi Village - 2,036m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 05: Simigaon – Dokhang (Dugang - 2,791m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 06: Dokhang – Beding Village (3,693m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 07: Beding Village rest for acclimatization and visit old Buddhist Monastery. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 08: Beding Village – Chekigo Base Camp (5,400m) preparation of climbing peak.
Day 09 - 14: Ascent Chekigo Peak Summit (6,121m) then descent to Chekigo Base Camp.
Day 15: Contingency day, incase of bad weather, clean BC and backpack. O/N at Camping.
Day 16: Trek back from Chekogo Base Camp to Beding Village (3,693m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge. 
Day 17: Beding Village – Dokhang (2,791m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 18: Dokhang – Simigaon or Chhetchhet. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 19: Simigaon or, Chhetchhet and drive back to Kathmandu then transfer to Hotel.
Day 20: Free day in Kathmandu for rest and farewell dinner in the evening.
Day 21: Last minute, transfers to TIA airport for your onward journey. Final Departure.

Cost Includes

  • All pick-up and drop-off services for both international and domestic flights are provided as per the itinerary (Airport-Hotel-Airport and trip pick-up and drop-off).
  • 4 Nights Hotel accommodations in Kathmandu on bed and breakfast plan. (2 nights before and 2 nights after the climbing.)
  • A welcome dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu.
  • 4WD Jeep or, Public Bus transportation: Kathmandu - Chhetchhet - Kathmandu for members, climbing guide,
  • Cook, Helpers, Kitchen staff and Porters with food, climbing eqipments loads.
  • Chekigo Peak Climbing Permit.
  • Gaurishankar Conservation Area Project (GCAP) entrance permit fees.
  • Garbage Deposit and Shipment Charges.
  • 3 Major meals; B/L/D (by Teahouse Lodge menu) and accommodation at best available teahouse lodge and tented camp at base camp during the trekking/climbing en-route.
  • 1 Professional equipped English speaking H. A. Climbing guide. (1 Guide sharing between 1-4 climbing members).
  • Equipments allowance and daily wages for the H. A. Climbing guide.
  • Necessary Porters to carry member luggage and climbing equipments. (1 Porter between 2 climbing member).
  • Equipments allowance, daily wages of base camp Cook, kitchen helpers and porters.
  • Helicopter rescue coverage, medical expenses, accident insurance for the H. A. Climbing guide.
  • Per member 15 Kg. luggage allow in the trek and climbing.
  • Life insurance for all support crews and their daily wages
  • Technical Climbing Gears: High Tent, Snow bars, Rock Pitons, Shovel, EPI Gas, Gas Burner, enough Korean Rope and high food.
  • First Aid Medical Kit Box in trekking and at Base Camp.
  • Walkie-talkies will be provided for communication between Base Camp and the summit, depending on the size of the group.
  • Farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu.
  • Mt. Chekigo summit certificate after the successful summit of the peak.
  • Nepal government official taxes and company service charge.

Cost Excludes

  • International airfare: To and from your country.
  • Nepal entry visa fee (To be applied for 30 days - Visa can be obtained upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport-Kathmandu).
  • Personal transportation except above programs.
  • Major meals lunch and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu.
  • Hotel after 5 nights stay in Kathmandu.
  • Personal trekking and climbing gears (trekking and climbing Boots).
  • Personal Sleeping bag (should cover -20º Celsius) and mattress for the high camp.
  • Extra meals while on trek (besides breakfast, lunch, dinner and 3 times Tea or, coffee)
  • Personal insurance such as travel, accident, hospital medical expenses, emergency evacuation and lost your luggage.
  • Personal Expenses: Phone calls, wifi while on the trek, battery charging, laundry service, postage, alcoholic beverages, bottles and canned beverages, specialty coffee or espresso drinks etc during in teahouse lodges on the way to base camp and return.
  • Airport customs charges for communication equipment, Drone Camera, commercial filming permits during the trek and peak climbing. (If required)
  • Airport customs charges for peak climbing gear and materials. (If climber sent by cargo to Kathmandu)
  • Bank/wire transfer fees (if applicable).
  • Risk of flight delays to and from Lukla or any other reason. (incase of bad weather)
  • Any other service cost which is not included in the cost includes.
  • Tips and Gratuities for climbing guide, cook, Kitchen boys and porters.

Tipping System:
Tipping is done on a group-sharing basis by peak climbing participants. The minimum recommended amounts are as bellow:
1. Trek+Climbing Guide, a Cook: Min. USD 150 each.
2. BC Kitchen Boys/Helpers: Min. USD 100 each.
3. Porters: Min. USD 50 each.
