Trip Overview

Annapurna with a difference, Manang to Tilicho Lake with 4WD Jeep drive

The Annapurna region undoubtedly provides some of the world’s best trekking routes, including as it does a greater variety of scenery and culture than can be found in any other comparable area. Although the normal circuit of Annapurna is a magnificent route, this new trek offers a wild and remote alternative to the Thorung-La. The route via Tilicho Lake and the two passes that guard it from the Kaligandaki Valley beyond is still little used and offers the adventurous and fit trekker high mountain scenery at its very best.

The chance to sit beside the freezing waters of the lake, surrounded by rock and ice, and with Tilicho Peak towering above, is an exciting alternative to the other more used trails. Having previously offered this route as part of a longer Itinerary, now we have arranged to fly out of the newly upgraded mountain airstrip at Jomsom and can therefore keep the overall length to three weeks.
