Gokyo Lake and Everest Base Camp

Trip Overview

Gokyo Lake and Everest Base Camp Trek is probably the most famous trekking in the world. Deep in the Himalaya, in a quiet, remote valley are the magnificent azure blue Gokyo Lakes. This string of glacial lakes is set in beautiful high-altitude wilderness dominated by the great peaks of Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Gyachungkang (7,922m). Less well-known than the main Everest trail, a trek in this valley provides stunning views of many Himalayan giants. We trek to Namche Bazaar, the colorful Sherpa capital and from here leave the main trails and enter the quieter Gokyo Valley. An early morning ascent of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) is the highpoint of the trek and we are rewarded by an amazing 360° view of the region's 8000m peaks.

The trips rejoin the classic route to Everest Case Camp used by all the great climbing parties when attempting the peak from the Nepalese side. There is ample time for acclimatization, and at the higher altitudes we are able to get well away from the most trekked areas.

Outline Trek Itinerary: A via Lukla

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport (1,350m), meet our staff then transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Flight from Kathmandu/Ramechhap to Lukla (2,860m) and trek to Phakding (2,652m) T. Lodge.
Day 03: Phakding Village – Namche Bazar (3,440m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 04: Rest day for acclimatization, with a day hike to Hotel Everest View (3,790m) and the surrounding areas.
Day 05: Namche Bazar – Dole Village (4,200m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 06: Dole Village – Machharmo Village. (4,410m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 07: Machharmo Village – Gokyo Village. (Gokyo Lake - 4,790m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 08: Early morning ascent to Gokyo Ri Peak (5,357m) Gokyo Village. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 09: Gokyo Village – Dragnag (Thangnagk- 4,700m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 10: Dragnag – Cho La Pass (5,420m) – Dzangla (4,843m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 11: Dzangla – Lobuche Village (4940m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 12: Lobuche - Gorakshep (5,140m) - Visit Everest Base Camp (5,364m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 13: Ascent to Kala Patthar (5,545m) and return to Lobuche. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 14: Lobuche – Dingboche Village (4,410m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 15: Dingboche Village - Hike to Chhukung (4,730m) back to Dingboche. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 16: Dingboche Village – Tengboche Village (3,867m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 17: Tengboche Village – Namche Bazar and transfer to Teahouse Lodge.
Day 18: Namche Bazar – Lukla Bazar (2,860m) then transfer to Hotel/Teahouse Lodge.
Day 19: Flight from Lukla to Ramechhap or, Kathmandu and transfers to Hotel.
Day 20: Free day in Kathmandu for rest or shopping, with a farewell dinner in the evening.
Day 21: Last minute, transfers to TIA airport for your onward journey. Final Departure.
