An new trek exploring the quiet Gaurishankar region of Nepal, with stunning panoramic views and a wide variety scenery in Rolwaling region
Gaurishankar Trail with Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek is one of Nepal’s most spiritual and remote trekking routes. Named after Lord Shiva (Shankar) and his consort Parvati (Gauri), Mount Gaurishankar holds deep religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. Located near the Rolwaling region and home to Himalayan Sherpa communities, this trek offers a rare opportunity to experience unspoiled natural beauty and the peaceful isolation of the high Himalayas. From the Rolwaling Valley, trekkers can ascend to the high-altitude Tashi Lapcha Pass, which connects seamlessly to the famous Khumbu (Everest) region, allowing for an extended and diverse trekking experience.
This unusual trek escapes the crowded trails, leading you through untouched ridges and serene valleys beneath Mount Gaurishankar. The route offers a stunning variety of landscapes—charming Sherpa villages, tranquil forests, and high alpine ridges—paired with panoramic views of Mount Gaurishankar, the Jugal Himal, and the Rolwaling Himal. Few foreigners venture into this remote region, making it a true hidden gem. Interestingly, in the 1950s, Sir Edmund Hillary led a Yeti expedition in this area, adding a fascinating layer of mystery and history to the trail.
Our Gaurishankar Trail and Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek itineraries are carefully designed to suit a range of preferences and fitness levels. The trek typically begins via Dolakha (Charikot) through Gongar or Barabise Bazaar, and concludes in Lukla, from where you will fly back to Kathmandu.
