Dhulikhel is a popular viewpoint, and Namo Buddha is the largest Buddhist monastery in the Kavre District. The hike from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha is an easy and scenic route that offers delightful views of hillside terraced farms, the Himalayan range, and a sacred Buddhist stupa at the summit. Along the trail, the terraced fields are beautifully adorned with seasonal crops such as rice, mustard, and millet.
According to legend, this site holds deep spiritual significance for Buddhists. It is believed that a compassionate Buddhist prince the seventh reincarnation of Lord Buddha offered his own body to a starving tigress so she could feed her cubs. This act of ultimate sacrifice makes Namo Buddha a revered pilgrimage site.
The day hiking tour begins with a roughly two-hour drive from Kathmandu to Dhulikhel.
