Trip Overview

Ganesh Himal, located in the central-eastern region of Nepal, is one of the least explored areas of the Himalayas. It lies between two of the most popular trekking destinations—Langtang to the east and Manaslu to the west. This trek offers a unique opportunity to explore a broad spectrum of cultures and breathtaking natural scenery within a hidden valley of splendor. Named after the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesh, the region boasts untouched natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and panoramic views of prominent peaks including Ganesh I, II, III, and IV, as well as Mount Manaslu, the Tibetan Range, Langtang, and Annapurna. Trekking through the Ganesh Himal region offers an exceptional opportunity to witness picturesque mountain vistas, cascading waterfalls, dramatic landscapes, towering cliffs, unique rock formations, and even a glimpse of the sacred site of Saint George.

Our 11-day Ganesh Himal Singla Pass Trek begins either from Balche–Betrawati Village and ends at Darkha Village, or in reverse from Darkha Village to Balche–Betrawati. The route takes you through alpine meadows and glacier valleys nestled beneath snowcapped peaks. The trek begins with a short drive from Kathmandu to either Betrawati–Balche or Dhading Besi–Darkha, depending on your starting point. From there, we ascend to Singla Pass (4,050m), the highest point of the trek. The trail winds through dense Himalayan forests filled with bamboo, pine, and fir trees. From the pass, you'll be rewarded with sweeping views of the Ganesh Himal massif (7,429m), Manaslu (8,163m), Annapurna (8,091m), and Langtang.

After crossing Singla Pass, the trail descends toward the villages of Shertung and Borang. The next day is spent exploring remote hills and relaxing in a natural hot spring at the foot of Ganesh Himal. The journey continues through Jharlang and Darkha, showcasing some of the region’s most beautiful landscapes. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to visit a historical royal residence and enjoy a stunning sunrise before driving to Dhading Besi, from where you return to Kathmandu. The Ganesh Himal Singla Pass Trek is ideal for trekkers of all ages. It offers an immersive experience of remote village life through teahouse lodges, homestays, or camping, while enjoying spectacular Himalayan scenery. The area is home to a mix of ethnic communities, each with distinct cultures, traditions, and religious practices unique to this lesser-known region of Nepal.
