Tsum Valley with Manaslu Circuit Trek brings you up close to the world’s eighth-highest peak, Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), while also guiding you through one of Nepal’s hidden treasures—Tsum Valley. Rich in both natural beauty and cultural heritage, Tsum Valley enchants with its lush landscapes and sacred atmosphere. Known as a Himalayan pilgrimage trail, this remote valley in the northern Gorkha District offers a deep dive into Tibetan Buddhist culture and traditions. Relatively new to the trekking scene, the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit Trek is quickly gaining popularity among adventure seekers. The journey is dotted with towering snow-capped peaks, enchanting monasteries, hundreds of cascading waterfalls, diverse flora and fauna, and villages that reflect a mystical Tibetan lifestyle. However, the rugged terrain and limited accommodations make this trek more challenging—and more rewarding—for those seeking solitude and adventure.
The trek begins by ascending alongside the Budhi Gandaki River, crossing its turbulent waters via dramatic suspension bridges, and gradually making your way into the sacred Tsum Valley. As you approach Lokpa Village, panoramic views of Ganesh Himal and Siringi Himal begin to unfold. From Chhekampar onward, the landscape transitions from lush greenery to alpine terrain, while the cultural richness intensifies. Here, you’ll discover centuries-old Buddhist monasteries, mani walls, and sacred retreat sites, all wrapped in a deeply spiritual ambiance. Spending a night in a local monastery is often a highlight, adding to the trek’s unique sense of mystique.
The trail then reconnects with the Manaslu Circuit, continuing through dense forests, past ancient mani walls, and into the cooler climate of the high Himalayas. A stay in Sama Gaon provides time for rest and acclimatization, with optional hikes to Manaslu Base Camp or Pungen Gompa, both offering spectacular views. A day’s trek further brings you to Samdo, a village near the Tibetan border, where another side hike offers a glimpse of the ancient trade route.
From Dharamsala (4,460m), the final ascent to Larkya La Pass (5,160m) is both demanding and breathtaking. After crossing the pass, you descend into the serene valley of Bhimthang and eventually reach Dharapani, marking the end of your trek. From there, you can travel back to Kathmandu or optional for a scenic return via Pokhara.
