Trip Overview

Tsum Valley is one of the most secluded valleys in the Gorkha District of Nepal. Situated in the Manaslu region, high up near the Tibetan border, the area has a distinct Tibetan Buddhist atmosphere that sets it apart from the surrounding countryside. Once a restricted area until 2008, Tsum Valley remains relatively un-trekked, despite the trailhead being just a 7-hour drive from Kathmandu. Most of this 17-day trek takes place at altitudes over 3,000 meters. Due to the elevation and daily walking durations of 5 to 7 hours, a reasonably good level of physical fitness is required for the Tsum Valley Trek.

The trail leads through pine forests, along powerful rivers with cascading waterfalls and spectacular suspension bridges. It winds through traditional villages and visits several gompas (monasteries), mani walls, stupas, and the sacred Milarepa’s Cave. Along the route, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of Himalchuli (7,893m), Ganesh Himal (7,140m), Manaslu (8,163m), Churke Himal, and the Poshyop Glacier. For those fascinated by Tibetan culture as well as Himalayan landscapes, Tsum Valley offers a rare opportunity to observe Tibetan Buddhist communities, including monks and nuns in their monastic environments. The trek feels almost like a pilgrimage into this hidden valley, offering deep cultural insight and natural beauty.

The Tsum Valley Trekking can be done separately, or combined with the Manaslu Circuit Trek for those with more time and interest.

Outline Trekking Itinerary: via Arughat

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,350m.), meet our staff and transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu, preparation and briefing about trek at evening.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola (890m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 04: Machha Khola – Jagat Village (1,345m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.

Enter Restricted Area:
Day 05: Jagat Village – Lokpa Village (Lokwa - 2,240m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 06: Lokpa – Chumling Village (2,386m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 07: Chumling Village – Chhekampar (3,010m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 08: Chhekampar – Nile Village (3,361m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 09: Day hike to Mu Gompa (3,709m) for explore and return to Nile Village. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 10: Nile Village – Lama Gaon (3,202m - Chhekampar (3,010m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 11: Chhekampar – Gompa Lungdang (Renzam - 3,206m) – Chumling Village. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 12: Chumling Village – Lokpa Village. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 13: Lokpa Village – Jagat Village or, Yaru Bagar (Yara - 1,370m). O/N at Teahouse Lodge.

Exit Restricted Area:
Day 14: Jagat or Yaru Bagar - Machha Khola. O/N at Teahouse Lodge.
Day 15: Drive from Machha Khola to Kathmandu then transfer to Hotel.
Day 16: Kathmandu free for shopping and farewell dinner at evening.
Day 17: Last minute, transfers to the airport for your onward Journey. Final Departure.

Cost Includes

All land transportation by Car, Jeep, Toyota Hiace or Reserve/Local Bus. (Airport/Hotel/Airport, trekking pick up and drop).
4 Night’s Hotel accommodation in Kathmandu at Bed and Breakfast basis.
