Trip Overview

Rupina La Pass with Manaslu Trek is one of the exhilarating trekking routes in the Manaslu region. It lies at an altitude of 4610 metres above sea level and falls on the lower region of the Gorkha District. It is one of the difficult Pass to cross, even though it is not at a very high altitude. Thus, this might be the reason that there are not many trekkers on this trail. The trekking route was officially opened in 1991. This trekking area is not as popular as others but certainly is equally beautiful as other trekking destinations. Due to its isolation and the lesser popularity, we can see a very little number of trekkers throughout the route. This trek is a mixture of geographic wonders as well as cultural richness.

Rupina-La Pass with Manaslu Trek circumnavigates Mt. Manaslu (8163m.), Himal Chuli (7893m.), Peak 29 (7871m.), Boudha Himal (6672m.), Langtang Himal Ranges and the Ganesh Himal Ranges. This route was one of the renowned destinations before the new trekking trails were introduced. It carries the long history of Nepal especially the Gaje Ghale and his generations. Some might be confused about the name of Gaje Ghale as he is the first Nepali to get the Victoria Cross (VC) because of his courage. Similarly, this place has a history of more than a decade because of its natural beauty, culture, and the hospitality of the local people. Unfortunately, on 25th April 2015, Nepal was hit by a massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake with the following aftershocks. The epicenter was Barpak. But, on the contrary, the natural beauty and culture, as well as the hospitality of the people, is still the same. Although earthquake demolishes the houses and property, the courage, teamwork and the strength of the people are still intact. Above all, they are promoting tourism in this sector. This place is most suitable for mountaineering expeditions. We can see the beautiful snow-capped mountains throughout the trek. It not only offers the best of the mountains but also gives us an amazing view of the verdant valley and lush green forests.

The commencing point of this trek is Gorkha Bazar, which is a 6-7 hours drive from Kathmandu. Along the way, you will cross a number of green farmlands and the gloriously gushing waterfalls. Few other attractions on the way are the distinctively styled houses showing the typical Nepalese culture around that region. The route goes through Barpak, Rupina-La Base Camp, Sama Gaon, Manaslu Larya-la Pass and Besi Shahar where trek will end and drive to Kathmandu.
