Thapa Peak well known as Dhambus Peak is situated in the Dhaulagiri region the northern side of the wildest valley of Nepal (hidden valley) and along with Kaligandaki River. It is an interesting peak for climbers in the North-East of the big Dhaulagiri massif. It is an easy trekking peak to ascent for climbers. Thapa Peak Climbing is one of the most challenging and adventurous peak climbing as route is extremely wild and remote and its require trekking experience and physical fitness. It is first ascent by Kurt Diemberger on April 22, 1960. This trek takes us across the kali Gandaki River and then north into the heart of the massif; from the base camp we come to the high point of trek, the traverse of French Pass (5,240m.), the hidden Valley and Dhampus Pass (5,182m.), a high level route which brings us back to the upper Kali Gandaki Valley via Batase Danda (windy Hill) to Marpha Village or Jomsom Bazar. From here we, either we can drive back to Pokhara or by fly.
