Thorong Peak 6,144 metres is a snow mountain situated in Annapurna Himalayan range and it is the good blending of viewing natural as well as cultural aspects of mountainous region. Thorong peak Peak Climbing requires that you are reasonably fit and have a burning desire to see some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Besides climbing you will also get a firsthand experience of the amazing Gurung people in this remote region. They are Buddhists and live in isolated villages, have a distinct style of architecture and deep spiritual beliefs. The trail will take you through rhododendron forests with red, white, and pink blossoms that stand in stark contrast to the usual array of greenery. The rhododendron is Nepal’s national flower emblem. Thorong Peak is situated to the south of Thorong-La Pass (5146m).

Trek begins at Chame village and progressively ascends through numerous villages until Thorong-La Pass and then up to Thorong Peak. From the pass you have to walk and climb about 150m. to reach the beginning of the glacier. The first pitch is the steepest (up to 45°-50°). After that slopes with about 30° lead to a plateau (about 5,900m). Then you have to climb a second step (up to 40°-45°) to gain slopes that become less steep the higher you get and the summit is just an even plateau. After the next pass a sharp ridge would lead to the "real" Khatung Kang which would be by far more difficult and would probably require a high camp. You will visit the holy Vishnu Muktinath Temple, considered sacred by Buddhists and Hindus, located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorung-La Pass in the Mustang District. Muktinath is one of the highest temples in the world and is famous for its 108 water spouts in the shapes of bulls. The approach to the mountain is identical with the Trekking around Annapurna with starting point either in Besishahar or Jomsom.
