Trip Overview

Khongma Tse Peak (5849m.) which is also known as Mehra peak is situated in the Everest region north of Kongma-la above the Khumbu Glacier. It is opposite of Lobuche that make up the long South-West Ridge of Nuptse between Nuptse glacier and Khumbu glacier. This peak was opened and issued permit for climbing in 2002. It is a rarely climbed peak of the Everest region. From the summit one can enjoy the excellent view of the mountains like Mt. Everest (8848m.), Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Pumori etc. it is more approachable from the south of the mountain. From the lakes east of the Kongma La, we can see the steeped glacier flowing down between long south and south east ridges. The border of the glacier is the normal route to ascend the peak. It is not very technically difficult to climb the peak and does not require the previous experience. Kongma Tse is twined with Pokalde.

The journey of Khongma Tse peak climbing begins with the scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The journey from Lukla to the base camp of the Kongma La peak is an exciting experience to the climbers. The trekking provides the combination of natural cultural experience to the climbers. The beautiful landscapes, views of waterfalls, cascading down of the rivers and its valleys, beautiful forest with blooming rhododendron flower, various Sherpa settlements on the way provides the overwhelming experience to the climbers. En route you traverse through beautiful monasteries, Sherpa villages, Sagarmatha national park etc. in the world heritage Sagarmatha national park you can explore various types of flora and fauna and encounter wild animals and birds.

Outline Peak Climbing Itinerary: Spring & Autumn

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,350m.), meet our staff then transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Free day for preparation and official briefing.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,800m.) and trek to Phakding (2,652m.) Lodge.
Day 04: Phakding – Namche Bazar. (3,440m.).
Day 05: Namche Bazar rest for Acclimatization.
Day 06: Namche Bazar – Tengboche (3,867m.).
Day 07: Tengboche – Pheriche (4,343m.).
Day 08: Pheriche – Lobuche. (4,930m.).
Day 09: Lobuche – Gorakshep (5,140m.) - Visit Everest Base Camp (5,364m.).
Day 10: Ascent to Kala-Pathar (5,545m.) trek back to Lobuche. (4,930m.).
Day 11: Lobuche - trek to Khongma Tse Base Camp (5400m.) and preparation.
Day 12: Climb Khongma Tse (Mehra Peak-5849m.) Summit - Chhukung (4,750m.) via Kongma-La Pass.
Day 13: Reserve day for incase of bad weather.
Day 14: Chhukung – Tengboche (3,860m.).
Day 15: Tengboche – Monjo (2,840m.).
Day 16: Monjo – Lukla (2,866m.) and transfer to teahouse Lodge.
Day 17: Lukla – Kathmandu by early flight and transfers to Hotel.
Day 18: Kathmandu free and farewell dinner.
Day 19: Last minute, transfer to airport for your onward journey.

Cost Includes

  • Land transportation by Car, Van, Hiace or, tourist Bus (Airport/Hotel/Airport, trekking pick up and drop).
  • 4 Night’s hotel accommodation in Kathmandu at Bed and Breakfast basis.
  • 3 Major meals; B/L/D (by Lodge menu) and accommodation; twin sharing bed room at best available teahouse lodge en-route, tented camp at Base Camp.
  • Twin sharing North Face brand tent, dining tent, Kitchen tent, staff tent, Kitchen utensil etc.).
