Trip Overview

Damodar Kunda situated in the Upper Mustang area of the Annapurna region which is a lifetime experience for the trekkers. Damodar Kunda is north of shadow high Himalaya of Annapurna massif and east of upper mustang (Lo-manthang) small lake at an elevation of 4890 metres and it is cold and windy place. Damodar Kunda trekking offers superb panoramic views whole Annapurna range, lush valleys, beautiful landscape, Tibetan monasteries. The views are great from some viewpoints a bit higher than the lakes, just a short climb up some of the hills. The Tibetan plateau and Damodar Himal with 65 peaks in this Himalayan range to the north and the Annapurna Himalayan massive to the south. Damodar Kunda has own history in the column of Barah Puran; Lord Krishna has said that who pays a visit to this Kunda and takes a deep-bath, they will be freed from all the sin. It is also mentioned in Puran that two sons of Kubers were suffering from their wrong doing & sin, which they did in their previous birth but lord Krishna suggested them to take bath in this Kunda and immediately after taking bath in this Kunda they were released from all their sin.

We will recommend you to visit during the full moon of August every year; because every year there is a big festival up there many pilgrimages Hindu and Buddhist visit full moon of August. Usually, you can visit April to September every year. Festival time will be great to visit Damodar Kunda. Damodar Kunda trek starts and ends at Kagbeni and this trek can exdend to visit famous pilgrimage temple Muktinath then trek back to Jomsom then next day take flight to Pokhara and Kathmandu.

Outline Trekking Itinerary: Full moon of August

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,350m.), meet our staff then transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu – Pokhara (915m.) by Tourist Bus then transfer to Hotel.
Day 03: Pokhara – Jomsom (2,720m.) by fight or, drive by Jeep then trek to Kagbeni (2,810m.)

Enter Restricted Area:
Day 04: Kagbeni – Chele (Tshele - 3050m.).
Day 05: Chele – Syangbochen (3,820m.).
Day 06: Syangbochen – Ghami Viilage (3,490m.).
Day 07: Ghami Village– Tsarang Village (3,570m.).
Day 08: Tsarang Village – Lo-Manthang (3,840m.).
Day 09: Day explore by Jeep drive to Thinkar, Kimling, Chunjung, Namdruk and Chhoser Village.
Day 10: Lo-Manthang – Dhee/Yara Village (4,200m.).
Day 11: Dhee/Yara Village – Bas Khola. Camping
Day 12: Bas Khola – Damodar Kunda (Lake 5,200m.). Camping
Day 13: Damodar Kunda – Ghechung Khola (5,000m.). Camping
Day 14: Ghechung Khola – Tange (3,240m.). Camping
Day 15: Tange – Tetang (2,940m.). Camping
Day 16: Tetang – Muktinath (3,802m.).

Exit Restricted Area:
Day 17: Muktinath – Jomsom Bazar then transfer to teahouse lodge.
Day 18: Jomsom – Pokhara by flight then transfer to Hotel.
Day 19: Pokhara – Kathmandu by tourist Bus then transfer to Hotel.
Day 20: Kathmandu free and farewell dinner at evening.
Day 21: Last minute, transfer to airport for onward journey.

Cost Includes

  • All land transportation by Car, Jeep, Toyota Hiace or tourist Bus. (Airport/Hotel/Airport, trekking pick up and drop).
  • 3 Night’s hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and 2 nights in Pokhara at Bed & Breakfast basis.
  • All 3 major meals a day; Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner (provide continental food) and accommodation at best available teahouse Lodges and tented camp during the trek en-route. (twin sharing North Face tent or, normal trekking tent, dining tent, toilet tent, Kitchen tent, staff tent and Kitchen utensil etc.).
  • One professional English speaking trekking guide, 1 Cook, Kitchen boys and necessary Porters. 
  • Life insurance for all support crews and their daily wages.
  • Per member 10 Kg. luggage allow while in the trekking.
  • Special Trekking Permit and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit.
  • Medical Kit Box for Nepali support crews.
  • Air Ticket: Pokhara/Jomsom/Pokhara with domestic airport tax & cargo fees or by 6/7 seater 4WD Jeep.
