Trip Overview

This trek begins in Tumlingtar and follows the Arun River until we turn into the Irkhu Khola valley, which is renowned for its natural paper products. The Salpa pass trail is a marvelous way to walk into the Everest massive following the unique ecosystem of the Arun Valley. This trekking trail is known as an ancient trade route used by local people to transport agricultural products to Namche Bazar and Tibet across Nangpa-la. Arun valley takes us to the Salpa Pass and the holy lake Salpa Pokhari. Friendly villagers and beautiful waterfalls bring us to the second pass of the trek - the Surkie-La. Rai populates this area and Sherpa people settled in a wonderland of isolated villages.

The highest trekking point in this route is Salpa Banjyang at (3,800m.) and highest camp site is at Salpa Kharka at (3,600m.). This trek is comparatively easy which offers superb views of Makalu, Mera Peakn and Everest range and many others at unfeasible height above rice paddies, lush forests. Anyone in good shape and has previous experience of trekking can make this fairly challenging trek anytime in March to May and September to early December in the year will be the good time to do this trip.
