Everest Base Camp with Island Peak (Imja Tse)

Kala Pattar Trek and Island Peak ClimbIsland Peak is known as Imja Tse 6160m./20305ft) is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal located at Khumbu valley for climbing on Himalayas. The combination of Everest base camp trek and Island Peak climbing is probably the best trip in Nepal adored by adventure seekers. It was first climbed in 1953 in preparation for the ascent on Everest. Apart from being an enjoyable climb, it has some of the most spectacular scenery of the Khumbu region. Island peak is said to resemble an "Island in a sea of ice" and is actually an extension of the south ridge of Lhotse Shar. The mainland forms a semi-circle of cliffs that rise in the north to the rugged summits of Mt. Nuptse, Lhotse, Lhotse middle peak and Lhotse Shar.

Kala Pattar Trek with Island Peak ClimbingThe Amadablam looks like a giant sea-stack guarding the entrance to the glacial bay Where Island peak stands. Island peak's first route of ascent was the south-east flank and south-west ridge. The usual base camp site is between Imja Tse and moraine of Imja glacier. In the event of heavy snowfall, this area has proved to be prone to avalanche danger. The west face also offers good route. Most people seem to Climb Island peak without bottled air. For some people reaching to the summit from the base camp is a day activity. However, most of the climbers prefer alpine style camping at high camp which adds the joy of climbing and also helps a safe ascent.
