An exciting trek in the Annapurna region culminating on an incredible climb of Tharpu Chuli or Tent Peak in Nepal
We offers a climb of Annapurna region's Tharpu Chuli Peak (5,695m.) known as the Tent Peak. It is lying just south of the Annapurna Base Camp, the Tharpu Chuli summit offers magnificent panoramic views of majestic snow-capped mountains. It is a part of the ridgeline and is located south from the glacier dome. It includes Singu Chuli and acts as a central divider between the semicircles of peaks enclosing the Sanctuary. Tharpu Chuli Climbing offers an interesting climb to the top and also offers a spectacular view of the Annapurna Mountains. The peak was nicknamed “Tent Peak” by Jimmy Roberts in 1956. The alpine plants, lush forests, culturally rich local people, snow covered mountains would surely mesmerize you with their serene beauty. The beautiful landscape at the trekking part adds another reason for choosing a climb to this spectacular Tent Peak. While you trek along the fertile Modi Khola River belt, you will experience the natural grandeur as well as the cultural magnificence of most popular trekking region of Nepal. Tharpu Chuli Peak Climbing takes you via Machapuchare Base Camp through snow and ice. From the summit you can see some of the great colossal snow clad mountains: Annapurna I (8091m.), III (7555m.) and South (7219m.), Hiunchuli (6441m.), Baraha Shikhar (7647m.), Khangsar Kang (7485m.) and Tarke Kang (7193m.).
It was first climbed on (but not summited) by Col. Jimmy Roberts in 1956 during an exploration of the area prior to a British expedition to Machapuchare in 1957. The peak was first summited in 1964 by a Japanese group on an expedition to Annapurna South led by Dr Haruo Higuchi. They climbed the South East Ridge, Alpine Grade AD and this is the sloping skyline to the right of the main photo. The easier North West Ridge, Alpine Grade PD, is to the left of the main photo and was first climbed by Gunter Hauser and a German party in 1965. Climb on this mountain offers an unparalleled view of the entire Annapurna Sanctuary a breathtaking circle of hanging glaciers and moraines surrounded by some of the highest peaks on earth. The normal route follows the North-West Ridge to the summit although the mountain has been climbed via the South-East Ridge as well as South-West Face.
