Gorkha, Rupina- La Pass and Manaslu
Adventures treks to remote north Gorkha Runina-la Pass & Larke-La at Manaslu range
This trek offers over 3 weeks to completely unspoiled it includes some of the most varied and rewarding trekking in the Nepal of North Gorkha area opened for trek at 1991s, through an area between the Dorandi Khola and Budhi Gandaki River. In 1950 A. D. a party led by H.W. Tillman trekked from Thonje to Bhimtang and col. Jimmy Roberts crossed the Larke La looking for an interesting mountain to climb. Manaslu (8163m.) was attempted by Japanese Expeditions every year from 1952 A.D. until 1956 A.D. when the first ascent was made. Having become known as “Japanese Mountain” much of the information about the area was available in Japanese. The Japanese continued to dominate the climbing scene of Manaslu until 1971 A.D. A few trekkers including peripatetic Hugh Swift Managed to obtain the trekking permit for the region but otherwise this trek always has been the domain of the mountaineering expedition. This trek is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating circumnavigating Manaslu peak 29 (7871m.) Himal Chuli (7893m) and Buddha (6672m.). Much of this trek is in a region of strong Tibetan influence. We cross the Rupina-La (4520m.) and descend to the Budhi Gandaki River then turn the trails towards river till Samdo Village, after crossing the Larkela trails decent to scenic forest down to Dharapani and Bhulbhule from where we will drive back to Kathmandu.
