Arun – Hunku Valley and Mera Peak

Our adventure begins with a flight to the small airstrip at Tumlingtar and Mera Peak climbing

Tumlingtar; after scenic flight to Tumling tar from here we descend to the deep gorge of the beautiful Arun Valley. The Arun Valley is lush, green oasis; rich in bird life and these first few days provide a fascinating contrast to high mountain escape as we approach Mera. Our route to the Mera La will take us through thick rhododendron and bamboo forest separating Hunku valleys. On the trail to Panch Pokhari you will come across a beautiful Sherpa Village and Kirong La Monastery.

From Panch Pokhari you will descend to Hunku River, a complete wilderness trail. The views along this section are superb. Towards the east we can see the Kanchanjunga and Jannu. To the north, the views of Hunku and Hongu dominate. The trail continues to Thangnag (4366m) from here we move to Khare (5108m) where we establish the base camp at the foot of the glacier leading to Mera La (5415m). Here we have a number of days to rest, explore and acclimatize. Our return will take us south, down to the Hunku Drangka before turning west to cross the Zattrawa La to the mountain airstrip at Lukla. From here we will fly back to Kathmandu the following day to a spectacular end.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport, meet our staff then transfers to Hotel.
Day 02 : Sightseeing: Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath temple and Patan durbar square with professional English speaking tour guide. 4/5 hrs.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Tumlingtar by flight then over night at Tented Camp.
Day 04: Tumlingtar – Katake
Day 05: Katake – Ghote Bazar.
Day 06: Ghote Bazaar – Salpa Phedi.
Day 07: Salpa Phedi – Ghorase.
Day 08: Ghorase – Guidel.
Day 09: Guidel – Khiraule.
Day 10: Khiraule – Cholam.
Day 11: Cholam – Khola Kharka.
Day 12: Khola Kharka – Mosam Kharka (3750m.)
Day 13: Mosam Kharka – Thangnag (4356m.)
Day 14: Thangsang – Khare (5010m.)
Day 15: Khare – Mera Peak BC acclimatization day.
Day 16: Set up High Camp (5200m.)
Day 17: Summit Mera Peak (6361m.) and back to Base Camp
Day 18: Rest day at Base Camp.
Day 19: Mera Base Camp – Mosom Kharka.
Day 20: Mosom – Chhetarwa.
Day 21: Chhetarwa – Lukla then transfer to Teahouse Lodge.
Day 22: Lukla – Kathmandu by flight then transfer to Hotel.
Day 23: Kathmandu Free.
Day 24: Last minute, transfers to airport for your onward journey.

Camping Trek Cost Includes:
