High Passes of Everest
Three high passes and many superb viewpoints make this perhaps the best of all Everest circuits
It is surely the ultimate Everest trek, start from the famous Khumbu Valley trekking area, home of the Sherpas, we acclimatize before following the trail taken by many of the great Everest climbers to Lobuche. Here we take the chance to ascend Kala Pattar. Entering the quieter Gokyo Valley crossing Cho- la pass, we are surrounded by incredible glacial lakes and an ascent of Gokyo Ri offers unbeatable panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu and others many mountains. Our goal is a day walk to the Nangpa- La where we can stand with one foot in Nepal and one foot in Tibet! With most of the walking above (3600m.) this is not for the novice, but for those who are fit and have previously trekked at altitude. This trip is more convenient to do trekking in the season spring (March to May) and autumn (September to December). Beginners or inexperienced climbers can take this trek, but this trek requires one to be moderately fit. Considering the snow conditions over Cho La Pass, the trek may not be advisable during winter (January & February) and the monsoon season (July & August).
