Kang-Guru-from-NarphuMt. Kang Guru is one of the popular mountain in Nepal located between Annapurna at Peri Himal and Manaslu Himalaya range of Nar Phu Village. It is above the tree line on the upper limit of cultivation in the north of Manang Distirct. Apart from the odd researcher and climbing expeditions permitted to climb Kang Guru 6701m., Mt. Himlung, Mt. Ratna Chuli and Mt. Gyajin Kang, few foreigners have visited the area and tourism infrastructure is almost non-existent. Since Annapurna Conservation Area Project recently extended its network to include Nar and Phu Valley.  Mt. Kang Guru becomes a most popular mountain for the climbers since 2005 and its every season there are huge climbers climbing the mountains.

The climbing routes follow the Annpurna circuit route up to Koto and proceed to Kang Guru base camp passing through traditional villages of Tibetan setting Meta. Base camp will be pitched at 4250m, camp I at 5300m, Camp II at 6100m and then long climbing on to the summit. The route presents some small technical difficulties and care should be taken for possible avalanches. From here a long and steep trail winds up to Nar and Phu whose villagers, laden with goods purchased in Chame and even lower down in Besishahar, the end of the road head leading to Manang Village and Thorung-la Pass cross then Jomsom and flight back to Pokhara.
